Recycled crayons!

I tried this once before and it didn't work out so well. After seeing this done online with silicon ice cube trays I couldn't wait to try it again. We were going for a swirly/tie dye look. I'm hoping to make a bunch of them to give as valentines for K & T's classes. I just love homemade valentines SO SO much.

Here are my results:

Not quite as shiny as brand new crayons are but K was very pleased with them :D

  1. Ok so do you just melt them in the oven? You are so creative i'll have to try that in a few years!

  2. Yes! I peeled the paper off, broke them into even smaller pieces (so they don't melt out of the hearts and then into the oven, then bake at 250 until they look mostly melted. I put them outside to cool down. The crayons sort of stick to the silicon trays (from ikea) so they have to be dedicated to crayon making. :)

  3. Love it! Those hearts are way cute. Okay, so Utah County... I want deets! You should email me about your mom and about where in Utah Co. you're from. We could start a craft club or something (unless that's super creepy then pretend I didn't say anything).
